|Lesser Flamingos ((Phoeniconaias minor) in Lake Nakuru, Kenya where thousands, sometimes millions nest along the shores. |
The lesser flamingo can be distinguished by its deep red carmine bill and pink plumage unlike the greater, which has a bill with a black tip.
The flamingos feed on algae, created from their droppings mixing in the warm alkaline waters, and plankton.
It is classified as near-threatened due to its declining population and the low number of breeding sites, some of which are threatened by human activities.

Beautiful birds, Bala.
I like their pink reflections on water.
A well composed shot.
a nice shot of these Lesser Flamingos, it's an amazing pink colours.
Decent sharpness, well exposed and nice natural colours, but as most of your pictures it's very tight,
leave a bit more space both in front and behind and it will look even nicer, just a hint.

Nice photo of these flamingo's. Beautiful natural colors in decent sharpness. A pity that there is noise over the photo. And indeed a bit more space in front of the bird is better.

A fine looking flock of Pink Flamingos. Their plumage is so pretty, I adore the pink hues randomly mixed in with the white feathers. Lovely overall color tones and nice exposure.
As you already know the frame appears a bit tight. Their is quite a bit of noise and loss of some detail, possibly due to excessive cropping?
You basically are using the same camera and lens that I do, and I see you also use 800 ISO. Hope I don't appear to be critical, but I know the capabilities of your equipment and just want to help if I can:) TFS.
Hello Bala â Interesting picture of this Phoeniconaias minor. Good composition of the group of lesser flamingos from Kenya (and Africa).
⢠Acceptable focus on the group of birds
⢠Exposure should have improved with an more appropriate choice of aperture/speed and iso; maybe could you have increase the iso speed rating up to 1000 or 1500, in order to be able to get an exposure time of 1/1000 or close, to open at f/4 or close and to give the focus in the middle of the group of birds
⢠Acceptable depth of field
⢠Acceptable contrast; nevertheless, should have be more pronounced; white colours slightly âburntâ
⢠Acceptable sharpness but too much noise (excess cropping? â You should try to be closer to your subject)
⢠Acceptable white balance and colour rendition for the bird and the water;
⢠Good background.
⢠Interesting picture showing a group of birds; good capture
⢠Acceptable framing and composition; personally I would have given more space around the birds
⢠Good rendition of the activity of the birds, searching their food in the sludge
⢠Acceptable capture of the eye
⢠Useful and instructive note
Thank you for the sharing of this interesting picture.
Have a good day.
