[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
Another camouflage shot :-) This time again an orthopteran and again I don't know the species... but books are on the way :-) soon I'll be able to tell (I hope...).

Anyway, I captured this beautiful insect in Melnik, on the outskirts of the Pirin Mts. You may find a picture of the Melnik area in my portfolio. It is a very interesting place of extremely xerothermic character. The ground is composed of loose sandstone, clay and calcite gravel.

This insect mimics a piece of calcite with great details. Look at the colours and patterns! You may see not only the typical calcite colour but also a net of lines/fissures of various colours and thickness - just like in the real gravel grain. So once more - hats off to the great work of Nature!!!

Early morning I go again for a two-day long fieldwork. Wish me a good luck as the weather crashed today - working on the river with rain falling on your head is not the nicestthing to do. See you soon :-)

Nice close-up!
Exposure and focuse are good, DOF is adequate even if the BG is a little busy. Some PS work could help to minimize its importance (the BG) but I understand it's not an easy job. TFS

Hi Michal!

You really like these orthopteran things ;-) This one is also great example of camouflage. Perfect patterns on its body. Great picture.

By the way - weather in my part of Lodz is great today ;-)

Great shot Michal. Nice DOF, excellent POV and sharp details. The busy background distracts me a little, but other than that; very good. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter
