Hallo Gary,
due to the interesting posture you achieve good focus and sharpness on most parts of the dragonfly. The strong light is excellently managed - there is no over-exposure and concomitantly no under-exposure of the parts in the 'shadow'. Caused by the clear background the structural 'unity' of plant and insect is beautifully underlined.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Gary,
Fine capture of a dragonfly minimising its body surface area for the sun: the sun's angle shows in this shot too. Excellent sharpness and DOF with pleasing bokeh BG.
TFS,
Regards, Ivan

Truly wonderful shot - I want to touch the wings they look so real! Was this a lucky shot or did you wait for it to land. Do you know what dragonfly it is?

Very well done.. composition, sharpness and color are superb.

good POV as well.. straight on!

Gary, Love your many postings. A male dragonfly ... this pose is usually presented by a very newly emerged adult dragonfly. Newly eclosed adults are usually easier to photograph because they a still in the process of tanning and curing their newly dawned exoskeleton. Lighting not to great but composition nice. Focus nice but unfortunate glare on wings and unwanted shadows on abdomen, thorax, and legs detract from quality. Thanks for posting.

Mike
