Jumping Spider

Scientific classification: Jumping spiders make up the family Salticidae, in the spider order Araneae.
Spiders and scorpions belong to the class Arachnida.
The jumping spider is an active predator, usually hunting during daylight. It will stalk to within a few body lengths of the prey, crouch, crawl slowly forward, and then lift its front legs and pounce. It accomplishes its spectacular jumps by means of muscular contractions in the body that force body fluids into the legs, causing the legs to extend rapidly. Most jumping spiders feed on insects, while others feed primarily on web-building spiders.

Taken last October. I was sat on a rock and I photographed Canada Geese, when suddenly this spider landed on my camera, more precisely on the tele-converter. I removed it and I had the time to take some shots of this very little spider before it jumped I do not know where.
It is pleasant to dig in my files and to remember good memories. The weather is really gloomy here and does not allow advantageous exits in nature.
Thank you very much for looking
.

What a furry little beast Luc, with such big protruding eyes. Excellent macro, because I know how small they are. This size does not scare me, but I don't like the bigger ones!
Sorry about the weather, but at least you are now going thropugh all your photos and finding good ones like this to show us. Well done my friend

Hola Luc: I don't like spiders but I should admit that the coloring and textures in the composition make it very attractive. Pose her, its expression, seems to be afraid or astonished with something, those enormous eyes with the astonishing blue shine I cannot say but that: it is magnificent your work Luc. Saludos Cordiales. *Ninfa Urania*

I adore these jumping spiders, with their huge eyes, too cute.
You were lucky to spend some time with this one, I know from experience that they do not stay still for long.
A great composition.
Thanks for sharing.

Very nice shot Luc!
I like the framing and POV a lot. Picture had nice details and colours too. The spider looks lovely.
Well done on this one!

Excellent detail and quick thinking to allow you to capture this surprise treat for us!
My daughter Jan would have freaked out if the little spider sat down beside her. She does not like them...;-(
But, yours is beautiful!
Nicely done!
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Luc,
I don't love spiders and I have never seen such a one in real - but I could change my mind, this one looks realy beautiful and so interesting with the big dark eyes.
Excellent sharpness, very well done, thanks.
How big is such a one? Are they dangerous?
Bye bye

Bonjour Luc,
I'm not a big fan of spiders, but I have to admit with his huge eyes he looks almost cute ;-).
Wonderful sharp details and DOF.
Thanks for sharing....SkyF

Wow Luc, I love this wonderful spider. Brilliant picture, excellent sharpness and colours. Perfect POV and beautiful bg. This is a superb composition. Thank you Luc.

Hello Luc,

I very much enjoy today's posting, as it also brings pleasant and funny memories to me...

How generous of this one to sit on your teleconverter and allow a photo shoot, before removing himself.

I am almost sure, that I have photographed his cousin in my own home... as the family trait is so strong :-)

Excellent details, and I love the eyes, POV, exposure, plus hint of sunshine in the BG.

Please keep looking in those archives, I would bet there are treasures to be found yet.

Thank you for sharing this one Luc!

Hi Luc.
Nice (?) spider you've got here. To me it looks almost unreal (like from a scary movie).
I like the colours: The blue foreground, the well focused spider and its colours, and the green background.
I don't like the spider, but that's because I don't like spiders at all ;-)

Regards
Per

Hello Luc. Very interesting photo that describes well the behabior of this hunter spider.

I have a great fear of spiders especially the jumping varieties. The photo makes what normally is a small not so scary spider, seem huge, of jurassic proportions! Very well done, excellent clarity and sharpness. I like the black background of your camera converter, it compliments him well.

Excellent shot, Luc!
I really like the angle, POV and composition. The spiders hairs stand out, as well as the spiders eyes, in contrast to the tele-finder.

I love the stare it gives you, probably ready to pounce on you if you make any sudden movements. I'm really impressed with how close your camera can take macros. I only have 1 picture so far on TN but it is a picture of one of these guys. Unfortunately my camera will only focus as close as 4cm, so they look very small (given they're less than 1/4" long). At least I think it is the same spider, maybe you could look at my picture and tell me if they're they same? Thanks for sharing, great shot!

Perfect capture of this spider.
Great details of it.Congratulations.
Best regards.Alin.
