[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
I took this shot at the Mose Creek Nature Conservancy at Crescent Beach, FL. It is a little used natural area with lots of wildlife. If you are looking for an area where you are likely to see animals but no people, this is the place.

This was a quick shot, as the armadillo and I surprised each other. He was digging in the leaves when I rounded the corner. He popped his head up just as I lifted the camera. I got of three quick shots before he vanished into the brush. This is the best of the three.

As I hike, I keep the camera focused at about 50 feet or the maximum visibility for the trail. I find that makes it easier to catch the surprise shots. After each stop, I remind myself to refocus for that distance.

I REALLY like the VR feature on this lens. When I am hiking narrow trails, the tripod is too clumsy, so a lot of my shots are hand held. The VR has let me get more of these quick shots.

Your background is superb and for being a quick shot this is very crisp in detail.
I've never seen one of these creatures for real before...guess that's a typical Canadian thing to say. LOL
Take care!

LOL, I have never seen one of these alive! I thought they were all dead carcasses on the side of the road!!!

Great capture and interesting to see one upright.

Hey Robert,

This is a really nice shot. Well done. You may want to sharpen it with a USM filter just a little bit. But on the whole an excellent shot

Well, that is a rarely seen animal on TN. Great capture for a surprise shot.
Amazing patterns of the "scales" on his "skin". Very strange and intriguing animals. Unusual position too, to see him standing up like that. Most pictures show them rolled up or flat on the ground. Well done and thanks for bringing us such an interessing creature. : )

so interesting and cute
good shot!
thanks for sharing..

Just bought this lens, so started looking for some shot taken with it - in additon to being a great image, this really shows how sharp this lens can be. Great clarity and excellent compositon, specially for a picture that gave you little time to compose and focus.
