[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
I have been on vacation this past week up at Chautauqua lake in New York. While at Chautauqua I always stop in at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute to walk the grounds and visit the museum.

I spotted this pretty Viceroy Butterfly in one of their flower gardens and just had to try and photograph it. The viceroy looks very similar to the Monarch and is to the untrained eye, hard to tell apart.

Wow, this is a beautiful butterfly, Ron, somewhat similar to our Plain Tiger here in Asia! Super point of view and composition.
The word 'Chautauqua' in your note reminded me of my most favorite book 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' by late Robert Pirsig.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful picture!

Hi Ron, Just a great picture with a excellent composition. Also the light, color, sharpness and colors plus the natural place help to enjoy the picture.
Congratulation.
Saludos.

That's a masterpiece, Ron! Absolutely perfect. A wonderful composition, beautiful light, needle-sharp and technically perfect. :-)

I haven't been in here in ages, and I'm very glad to see you're still knocking them out.

When trying to tell a Monarch from a Viceroy, I just look for that black line through the back wing, as it's an easily-seen field mark. The Viceroys and Monarchs often fly differently too. Viceroys often fly much faster and in a straight line instead of fluttering and dipsy-doodling around the way Monarchs tend to do.

hallo Ron
this is a beauty with good sharpness and beautiful colour s
thanks gr lou

Hi Ron,

The vegetation is framing well the insect. The point of view is showing the details of the Viceroy butterfly. The good luminosity is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

Pierre

A good clean shot, very sharp and the butterfly well set off against the green background.
