[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
Most people think of Baobab trees as being native to Madagascar and mainland Africa. There is actually a variety growing in Australia where they are called Boabs. There is much debate as to how they reached here (floating seeds perhaps). Our boab (Adansonia gregorii) has certainly been here for 10s of thousands of years and is now a distinct branch of the baobab family.
This photo shows a mature boab tree and numerous young ones.
Aboriginals made use of almost every bit of the trees for food and medicine. I have eaten a very tasty relish made with boab.

Hi Ian,i been in Madagascar and i remember well the baobas and their form, and this is very different,so fat and not high like the others. Interesting post and note for this australian version of a tree of this family. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ian,
Here in South Africa we call it Baobab tree and I've seen a lot in the Northern Kruger National Park. It looks like someone planted it up side down. Well captured with good details and with young ones.
Thanks for sharing,
Regards and have a nice week,
