This is a gavião. It feeds mainly on chicks and eggs - that's why hens hate and fear them.

The one which is depicted here has approximately 20 centimeters, and it is a grown-up. Some species may have 38 cm. Here in Brazil, they can be found mainly in country areas.

The photo was taken in Pindaíbas, a very small town some 30 kilometers away from the one where I live.

Excellent sharp photo!
There is not much to say about such a great photo, just one thing, the BG looks like it's not real, like it was edited in PS and I would like to see the real BG of that picture because such a good pic cant have a bad BG!
