This photo is the dorsal view of the previously posted butterfly

Description: This butterfly lives in Colombia and Ecuador, this family (or subfamily of Lycaenidae) likes to perch under the leaves and flies near the rivers. It lives in Colombia from 1200 to 1800 masl.
Forewing 26-27 mm.

Taken in jpeg, cropped and resized. Flash on, ISO 100.

Esta mariposa vive en Colombia y Ecuador, a esta familia de mariposas (o subfamilia de Lycaenidae) le gusta posarse por debajo de las hojas. Esta mariposa se encuentra cerca de los rios y quebradas y vuela por el dosel del bosque pero baja a libar sales al suelo.

Excellent shot of this beautiful dark butterfly showing great detail. Wonderful colours on the wings.

Juan:
This is a very nice documentary photograph of this interesting species. My only criticism would be that the dead centre, head straight upward position makes it look very static, almost like a specimen in a case. Some angling of the shot and space in front of the subject usually (but not always) makes the photograph more pleasing to the eye. I envy your opportunities to see these beautiful insects and thank you for bringing them closer to us.

Precisa macro Juan con excelente DOF y nitidez.
Me agrada el color obtenido gracias a un buen control del uso del flash, sin excesos o reflejos indeseables.
A pesar que el fondo no es idea, permite un buen contraste de colores con la mariposa y apreciarla en todo su esplendor.
Una bella imagen, realmente.

Bellìsima captura. Me agradan los colores de esta mariposa y sus detalles. Muy buena la iluminaciòn, el encuadre y el colorido del fondo. Es muy raro el lugar donde està posada. ¿Què es? ¿Roca y arena?

HI JUAN
La especie que destacas aquí de manera espectacular es Necyria bellona incendiaria (Thieme) y no N. zaneta (ésta es del Chocó Biogeográfico) distribuida en zonas andinas de Colombia que tiene como influencia el cañón del Río Cauca. La hembra posee una franja rjiza ventral muy notable, felicitaciones!!
