[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
The Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagris) is the best known of the guineafowl bird family, Numididae. It breeds in Africa, mainly south of the Sahara, and has been widely introduced into the West Indies and southern France.

It breeds in warm, fairly dry and open habitats with scattered bushes and trees such as savannah or farmland. It lays its large clutch of eggs in a well-hidden lined scrape.

The Helmeted Guineafowl is a large (60-68cm) bird with a round body and small head. The body plumage is grey-black spangled with white. Like other guineafowl, this species has an unfeathered head, in this case decorated with a dull yellow or reddish bony knob, and red and blue patches of skin. The wings are short and rounded, and the tail is also short.

This is a gregarious species, forming flocks outside the breeding season typically of about 25 birds. Its diet consists of seeds and small invertebrates. This guineafowl is terrestrial, and will run rather than fly when alarmed. It makes loud harsh calls when disturbed.

Very good pic. I didn't even know those guys could fly, I thought they just ran away.
Too bad there are those shadows on the bird, but that is not something one can control. Maybe some more sharpening would make the photo even more striking.

We have these around my house in the US, they were introduced by a couple of my neighbors to help keep the tick population in check. Not the brightest or most attractive fowl, but they are funny to watch. Great capture, the bird looks almost majestic flying like that. Very nice action shot!

Belle prise nature avec une bonne lumière. Félicitations et bonne journée.

Cem nice photo of a guineafowl ("bec tavugu" in turkish) in action, I have seen them in ada anda have the chance to photograph them. They were just up at outside the scoccer players field, is it the place they mostly hanging around? Except from the distracting shadows I like this photo. congratulations.

Great shot!
It is a bit weird but very interesting. I've never seen this bird captured in this way.
You've managed to set quite good focus and composition. The light is very good as well.
I like your photo very much.
Well done!

Oh, and a bit late welcome to TN :-)

Good shot Cem, You've catched it well. Looks like rather heavy in flight. Nice pose, light and details. Pity about shadows on its body.

Hi Cem, good shot here. What amazing feather details he has. I can see he's coming in for a rough landing, he looks so ungainly. Very good capture. Well done.

Good capture here Cem. But needs a little space in front of the bird, and sharpness on its head. TFS.

Technical quality:***
Wow factor:**

Shooting a wee-bit earlyer would have been great.
Nice try.

Très belle image en plein vol. Bravo.

Hi Cem,

Its a difficult subject and moment but you pulled it off nicely. I would have considered cropping the empty space at the back if possible. Well done.

Nice capture Cem, nice focus on the bird and good technical aspects. It's a shame that the BG and surroundings are so busy but we have to get these things where we find then. Well done.

Interesting speckled bird. Amazing that you captured him in flight! His body looks to big for the wings to hold him up! Well done.

I like this one, Cem. If I was rude to this bird, I would say it looks a like a disguised chicken thrown out of the window :-). The flight is so surrealistic! Anyway, I don't think TN has any of these in the gallery. It's very well catched, despite the difficult environment. Very good note too. Thanks for posting.

This is a beauty Cem! These guys are not easy to capture, but you pulled it off! There is a bit too much space behind the fowl for my liking and impact can be gained by cropping that off.

Very well done and thanks for posting

The good shot at the good moment.
Very sharp and very nice colours.

very good shot of bird in motion :)

Belle et intéressante composition photographique pour ce superbe oiseau en plein vol. Jolies couleurs et bonne netteté malgré le mouvement.
Well Done !

Hi Cem. This is a beautiful scene, the bird is superb and the scenary very nice. In my modest opinion, it would be nicer it you cropped some of the bottom and at the back, to see some more details of the bird, otherwise a workshop with a nearer view, the pattern looks fantastic. Thanks!

Fantastic action shot, Cem. And what a beautiful bird. Very good capture of the whole body in flight. Congratulations on a wonderful capture. : )

Exceptional shot, I didn't think that this species could fly either. Very nice capture considering the relatively slow shutter speed. The image can be improved though. I have done a small workshop where I've sharpened it up and reduced the shaddows. Well done.

Great colours, contrast and composition Cem. An excellent photo.

Hi Cem
nice note on this backdoor neighbour of mine, and you did well in catching him on the wing, something I have not yet been able to even sniff. TFS

Hello Cem! What striking feathers this guinea fowl has! I've never seen one, and you have made such a great action shot! It looks almost 3 dimensional with the blurred background. Excellent, and unusual portrait of this interesting fowl! Well done! Thanks, Linda

Stunning focus on the bird, Cem! Did you pan this shot with the blurred background? Great capture of this pretty bird in flight.

Lovely shot Cem. You managed to capture a special moment and to keep it sharpened. Very good colours and composition. Well done!

Hello Cem,
You made a beautiful realisation there! The details of the bird are surprising although it was taken in full flight. Very beautiful work.
