The title, Three-banded plover must be an epizeuxis for you, my dear reader, as it can already be found a few times in my Kruger National Park travelogue. You can hit the link in the middle left.
(an epizeuxis is a palilogia:-)
Repetition is not only a good rhetorical device, it is actually good for learning as well...
Thus here's the wikipedia info once again...
The Three-banded Plover or Three-banded Sandplover, Charadrius tricollaris, is a small wader. This plover is resident in much of eastern and southern Africa and Madagascar, mainly on inland rivers, pools and lakes. Its nest is a bare scrape on shingle.

The adult Three-banded Plover is 18 cm in length. It has long wings and a long tail, and therefore looks different to most other small plovers in flight, the exception being the closely related Forbes's Plover which replaces it in west Africa.

Hi Annick.
May I'll stay next to you and your charming bird. Only I will stay with all my birds.
Superb image of the fine bird. I see it does not pay any attention to you. Brilliant reflection of the feathers and colours. Lighting is amazing too. I like light level of blurriness of the BG. It is very nice and impressive. Well done and best regards.
Alexei.

Hi Annick,

Nice portrait of this tiny bird. About Gambia: its not a problem to take a guide. If you find a good one it will respect your initiatives and follow you when ever you want that. I had no problems with my guides at all and felt very free.

regards,
Zeno.

Hi Anick, wonderfull portrait of this nice and colored bird.I like a lot the colours and the background, perfect light and sharpness, thanks for share,Luciano

Beautiful bird, nice, sharp capture, pleasant composition, etc... these characteristics are usual with your posts Annick. What astonishes me here is that unproportional size of the staring eye! At times, nature is not easily understandable...
Regards,
Mehmet

Annick, Lovely bird. I have seen Stone Plovers in India. They have large yellow eyes and do not have the eye-lids as this one. Nice sharp picture.

This is a beauty Annick. I particularly like the color and texture of the water. I so often love the secondary features of your images as much as the amazingly sharp and detailed subjects.

Hi Annick

Another splendid shot from you, my friend!
You really know how to take advantage of a great focal length and you constantly present us beautiful animals in their habitat, totally unbothered by any human activity...just like this one.
It's such a natural pose from this little cute Three-banded Plover that makes this such a terrific shot!
Of course, it comes with the "standard Annick features: - impeccable sharpness, spot-on exposure and beautiful colors.
The compo here is also very well chosen - no need to show a reflection in the water if it's not a clear one; instead you chose to concentrate all the attention on the lovely bird and you did great!

Bravo and TFS
