Rhizophora mangle, Red Mangrove, Mangle Rojo.
RHIZOPHORACEAE (Familia: Mangle). Manglar

In the costs of Tabasco, in lathe of the coastal lagoons and along the rivers with saline affectation, the most extensive swamps in Mexico grow.
The biggest extension in the forest of mangroves of the territory tabasqueño is along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, in the lagoons that skirt to the river Mezcalapa, in the riversides of the rivers Tonalá, San Pedro and San Pablo and Grijalva. The species of mangroves that prevail in Tabasco are four: red, white, black and blackish. Of the bark of the red and blackish mangrove tannin is obtained that is used in the tannery.

The red mangrove has bark reddish-coffee and leaves of texture cueruda dark green color that measure from 5 to 15 cm (2 to 6 inches) of long. The flowers white color to cream measure 1.6 to 2.4 cm (1/2 to 1 inch) and they produce a fruit ovoid dark brown color of 3cm of long. The red mangrove flowers from March to November. Inside the fruit it is formed a viviparous seed that has lance form and it floats. The fruit grows from 2 to 25 cm (3/4 to 10 inches) of long with the seed already germinated.

Compactly adapted to the aquatic conditions, this bush grows with its feet in the water". pile Roots support the plant above the water and other roots extend toward the surface and they help to the aeriación. The roots and shafts of the plant can grow immediately after the contact with the earth. Hi Ninfa, good to see an image from you , good to see a good image of these mangroves, the typical tangle of roots is a little bit overexposed , but the rest of is good the reflections are very good alot of detail that you could send a lot of time exploring to see what is hidden in the branches.

Very good note and I love the reflections in the water. The roots are are a bit overexposed, but I learnt a lot from this post.

Interesting shot Ninfa, and it's good to see you posting again. I think as Japie says that the roots are overexposed but i liek the feel of the picture and the reflections. The note is excellent.

Great scenario you captured here Ninfa. Very clever use of dof leaving a lot of details. the colours are jus great and the water looks very clear. Only nit is about the roots as robert mentioned. The note is very educational - thanks a lot.

Wow! Lovely composition with a very interesting note!

WOW, esta foto me chamou a atenção . E aprendi muito com a sua nota bem completa. Como sempre, sua foto é um momento de contemplar a beleza visual e também o momento de aprender algo interessante. Saludos estimada Ninfa ! Eduardo

Dear Ninfa,

I found your photo trawling the site for my themes.

It is an interesting scene, which not many other photographers would "shoot", however I like it very much i.e. it tells a story.

I personally do not like Mangroves, I am terrified about what might lurk in the murky water - and in particular I am very much afraid of snakes - also in a boat.

I think, you handled VERY WELL the exposure i.e. you had to cope with the reflections in the dark water, take care of the exposed roots - but most difficult - the trees in the top left corner would have been completely in the dark!

You controlled all these conditions and depth of field in a professional manner, and the natural colours are a bonus.

Well done.

Best Wishes and
Kind regards
Ingrid
