Chhitkul... the last village of India
|[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista|
|Chhitkul. the last village of India. and on the other side of those mountains, is Tibet. can you see the greenish blue glimpse of river Baspa? yes, it originates near to this village.|
Chhitkul is in Sangla Valley, which is in the beautiful district (of Himachal Pradesh), Kinnaur. this village is situated at an altitude of 3450 metres above sea level, and has got few people residing in it. it has got one government high school too!
Chhitkul is extremely cold in summer, and in winter it goes far below the freezing point. most of the residents, before winter, start climbing down to Sangla and nearby areas.
the cow-dung kind of thing that you get to see in the photograph, is of Yaks. yes, people take good care of their yaks, sheeps, horses, hens and donkeys.
i tried to walk till the foot of those mountains... as it was near by... but the cold, sharp, freezing, powerful wind was extremely against it. then it started raining. so we had to run for a shelter and couldn't reach those mountains. but i had spent enough time with river Baspa, and collected many interesting stones from its bank.
