[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
I have captured this butterfly in our yard. First time I saw this butterfly in South Africa. I googled to know its name and Google says it's "Acraea horta". Not such beautiful if you compare with other, but it always a nice moment to see something new in our short lifespan.

I noticed, end of the wings look transparent and it was a challenge to me to get good DOF even on transparent part.

In my photography light does play a great role, better to say, I try to use the light in dramatic way. Personally I don't like FLAT LIGHT ON SUBJECT. So I need to take 4/5 photographs from different corner to judge the effect later, if I get chance. Here I kept COMMING SUNLIGHT just top right corner and I think it works well here.

"Acraea horta" is a butterfly of the NYMPHALIDAE family. It is found in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

It has typically wingspan of 45-50mm for males and 49-53mm for females.

Adults are on wing year round, but are more common from October to April.

Hello Srikumar,
How nice to view this lovely butterfly with transparent upper wings. The focus is sharp and we can see nice detail. The body markings and lower wings remind me a lot of our Monarch Butterflies here in Ohio. I like the tiny bit of glistening texture we can see in the clear section of the upper wing. Wonderful blurred BG.
I remember having a terrible time trying to focus on a clear winged butterfly while in Nicaragua. By the time I did get it to auto focus the butterfly decided to take off and I never did get a shot:(

Hi Srikumar,

The subject is well framed. The macro point of view is showing the details of the Acraea Horta butterfly and of the flower. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Srikumar,a very bright capture of this rare butterfly not often seen on TN,its body reminds me a lot the common plan tiger, but the wings are differents and seems made in a colored motherpearl.Magnificent composition very sharp and bright as usual.Have a nice Sunday and thanks, luciano

Hello Srikumar,
Excellent image with a nice specie. It is a very interesting specie. I like the transparent end of the wings. You focused exactly on the transparent part and it looks gorgeous.

Hi Srikumar
Interesting and beautiful species, a little bit similar to the Monarch.
I like the 3D appearance on the left wing.
