[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
Today I'm in nostalgic mood, maybe that's because of the weather: low pressure, misty evening, melting snow... Definitely not my favourite aura...

Some years ago, planning my vacation trip, I wanted to learn more about Montenegro. So I found some website with picture galleries and... I was shocked! Simply I couldn't believe that so much beauty can be packed in such a small piece of land. And the more I was learning about the country, the more enchanted I was with its richness and diversity, both in terms of nature and culture.

Especially, Skadar Lake and its surroundings are among the most beautiful places, not only in Montenegro but also on the entire Balkan Peninsula. You had an occasion to see some more of my photos from that area before, including the lake itself and the sublacustrine springs along the lake margin.

Today I want to present you a river - Rijeka Crnojevica is its name, and it's an affluent of the Skadar Lake. Its length is only 13 kilometers and the drainage area is some 70 square kilometers. But as usually in Montenegro this short strain of water is extremely picturesque.

The river is very clean and the water is amazingly clear - it flows through the karst valley. Its current is slow so there's so much vegetation. You may see it - almost the entire river is overgrown with plants, among which water chestnut is often dominating. Such a rich habitat attracts a lot of birds. It's a great place to observe them, even close to human settlements. There are several old stone bridges you can use for that purpose, all from XVIII-XIX century (one of them you can see on the picture)...

The villages along the river are small, old and live their own sleepy life. It's nice to go there as well, sit in one of the small local restaurants just above the water, watch herons, eat local wild carp (extremely delicious) and have a pint of Niksicko pivo along with the food... just like paradise :-)

To give you better overview of the river, I put a workshop showing its very picturesque valley below that place, where it opens to the Skadar Lake.

I can relate to your mood; Here its freezing cold but your picture brings me hope. The soft greens are very appealing and the composition very well realized. Thanks for sharing this.

Hello Cedryk,
I perfectly understand your wish to get away from the grey weather in the north! And what a nice escape! This place looks really wonderful and what a beautiful river! This is a very nice landscape scene but I far prefer your workshop which is really a superb omposition from a very nice point of view with great depth of focus and lovely colours.
Interesting note to!
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hello Michal,
What a verdant and cool settlement along the river! The rich green is soothing to the eyes.
I have seen your workshop too and I tend to agree with Ulla. The perspective in that picture is grand.

Hi Michal,
Your landscape pictures are extremely well executed and very rewarding to become engrossed in (I have been viewing the other ones although I never got ready to write down my impressions). You make the countryside seem so vivid, come so near and appear so real as if right there in front of you, just to open the window and feel the refreshing breeze of the balmy summer air. The colours are unusually fresh and crisp and the perspective impressively encompassing. Your notes are exhaustive and well prepared and a pleasure to read. No wonder you mind wanders over here to this Garden of Eden days like these in northern Europe - I think I will let mine do do the same thing! Bye and thank you very much for sharing these moments of bliss,
Goran

Hej!
W przeciewienstwie do workshopu. Zreszta musze przyznac, ze czytajac opis (w tym tytul zdjecia) zdecydowanie lepiej mi to pasuje do workshopu wlasnie. To zdjecia mogloby z powodzeniem byc uzupelnieniem.
Ale jak zawsze to zalezy od punktu widzenia :)
Pozdrawiam serdecznie!
Radek

Hello Michal,

What a wonderful place!!! I would like to be there today (-23C in Quebec this morning)... I like that we can see different elements here (water, forest, field, bushes, rocks) within the same image... Nice composition and exposition!

Congratulations and TFS,

Michel

Hi Michal.
Thank you for given opportunity to see your nice collection.

This one shows the paradisiacal edge. And it does it amazedly. Your POV is excellent. Lighting is very expressive as well as the combination of lights and darks. Richness of colours and transparence of the shot are fantastic. Sharpness and details of the picture are great too.

I like you note so much. It is full of content and very interesting. Great work and my compliments.
Alexei.

Wow Michal!
The lighting and the green colors are so excellent!
This shot really makes me miss flying, and particularly flying in beautiful mountains.
So many nice components: the arched bridge, the little village, the stream, and the green, green fields all set nicely in the mountains! Great composition and quite an excellent job!
Thanks mf,
Dave
