|Hi Jacob and thanks a lot for the critique :)
I've actually made 2 trips - a small one on Thursday and a big one yesterday.
Thursday it was a splendid day - sunny and warm - and pretty much all the herpetofauna was already out. I saw a lot of Rana sp. (both brown ans from the green complex), Hyla, Bufo, Lacerta agilis (a lot of little babies...i also took some nice photos) and even Natrix natrix. I was a bit surprised to see all of them out already.
Yesterday was a miserable day! It was fully overcast and there was a cold wind blowing all the time. Despite that, we maanged to do some feeding studies on a couple of newt populations (vulgaris and cristatus) and we also had an interesting fiding: we found spawn and later on a fully grown male Rana temporaria and apparently it's at the lowest altitude ever recorded in Romania :)...so it was worth to freeze in the pond :))
How's the herpeto life in Holland?
All the best to you, my friend.
